Liger last week at the Rhiz. I was a huge fan when I first heard his music, but can't say I followed his career very closely since then. But wow, his, or I should rather now say their live show has really improved since I saw Dino years ago at the Shelter with some awful screamo band as his opener: This was intense and lots of fun. They still sound utterly like Xiu Xiu to the point where we found ourselves humming melodies and quoting lines from Xiu Xiu songs during the gig, but that just increased the entertainment value... don't miss that show when he comes back to Vienna.

Budapest 2010
Just posting this here for posterity's sake, can't let Facebook be the only place it was documented at. Hackerspace opening, Failotron, Vittula, Sugar, sightseeing, etc. – a perfect weekend getaway. Of all Eastern European cities I've been to, Budapest is my favorite.

Have something on your mind, some kind of project, idea or ambition that could use an audience? Want to share something that influenced you this year? Grab the open mic (no longer than 5 minutes please, 3 are recommended, nothing that requires prior audience knowledge).
Have friends? Bring friends.
Also still looking to borrow 1-2 old TVs or any kind of cheapo Lomo camera (color splash, fisheye, etc). One or two more bar tenders would help as well.

Auf der Demo gegen das diskriminierende Partnerschaftsrecht
Besonders wertvoll: Celia Mara, Lilly Allen zum mitsingen und die wirklich gute Rede von Amir Ahmed, der zwischendurch mal im LIF-Führungsteam war. Zu schade, dass auch er sich mittlerweile scheinbar mit dem Rest zerstritten hat... (photo by erstklassigeRechte)

At the last Hackathon someone turned up who knew me from Tibia, an MMORPG I played and contributed to for about two years starting in 1998.
I just did some nostalgia-googling: Here's the center of the map area I designed, the Green Claw Swamp, with NPC Wyda's hut. I spent so many hours placing each of those tiles... I also drew that barrel graphic, among many others that have since mostly been replaced. Still, it's crazy to see at least some of that work still online after eleven years...

So I'm actually doing this, despite a bunch of good reasons not to.
