Wall Street bull survives attack by matador; clowns arrested
"The clowns began spanking and climbing the beast, traditional ways of coaxing a bull into anger in preparation for a Castilian corrida, or bullfight."
Epic art & activism. Love it.

A while back I thought to myself that we need a new online media format for short-form videos: No play button, no loading indicator and no progress bar, audioless or muted until you hover/click, etc – this comes really close, testing the limits of the GIF format (few colors, huge file size).

O Superman is a 1981 song by experimental performance artist and musician Laurie Anderson. The half-sung, half-spoken, almost minimalist piece unexpectedly rose to #2 on the UK Singles Charts. (via donaufestival)
This is beautiful.

Unlogo is a web service that eliminates logos and other corporate signage from videos.
This is the first step towards a future in which people who can afford to do so will be running around with diminished reality goggles to filter out all the invasive targeted advertising. Soon thereafter, a nimble clothing brand will discover that logo-covered merchandise now actually works as a cloak of invisibility and find new ways of capitalizing on that. At this point the government steps in, requiring that all computer-modified vision feeds be passed through state-owned servers for safety and fraud detection reasons...click here to order my upcoming dystopian science fiction novel for just three easy payments of $19.84.

Ocean of Light, the LED cube that is one of the highlights at this year's Ars Electronica. Mesmerizingly beautiful. I want one. (My own lo-fi video is here)

"We intend to write to everyone in the world. In April 2009, we sent a personal, handwritten letter to each of the 467 households in the small Irish village of Cushendall. We hoped these unsolicited letters would prompt neighborly discussion, spreading across the town, promoting community curiosity."
